They must be filthy rich!

I've stumbled upon this link about the cost of US war in iraq that will reach $611.5 billion ($611,500,000,000). Surely that is a huge sums of money.
Teh US must be very rich to burn that amount of money on war. I wonder where did they get it? They must have some kind of gigantic ATM machine that can produce money out of nothing, or a horde of money-producing leprechauns that enslaved in Guantanamo.
Combine $611.5 billions with the cost of war in Afghanistan, and maintaining over 700 military bases in about 130 countries around the world.. maybe we can have a fund to eradicate poverty around the world.
Human must be very stupid to choose destruction over eliminating poverty, right?
